One two-month voyage circling the Land Down Under is being halted days after the tragic passing of an senior female passenger who was abandoned by the cruise liner on a remote coastal location.

The elderly woman had been walking on Lizard Island with other travelers from the cruise ship, but separated from the group for a break. The liner departed without her and returned later that day after the personnel realised the lady was not present.

An extensive rescue mission located her remains the next day.
